I was wondering if someone could give advice on this issue. I've got a keg lid that been the problem child since I got it. The leak around the edge of the lid appears to have been solved by keg lube. It is now leaking around the pressure relief valve.

What I've tried so far is:
replaced the valve with one from another lid...it still leaks
put keg lube around the threading of the release valve...it still leaks

When I spray some soapy water around the valve. Nothing appears at first. After 30 secs or so that area starts to bubble up quite alot.

There seems to be some rust/crud looking stuff around the inside of the release threading. I figured next I'd take a wire brush to it and try to clean that out. Not sure if that might help, but couldn't hurt to try.

Try lubing the rubber of the relief valve. Has worked for me in the past. Have to disassemble it tho'.

Personally, I'd just as soon plug the relief valve opening but, that just me.

SOMETIMES....we get the same thing while going through kegs. After trying 3 or 4 PRVs, we chuck the lid. The SMALLEST of scratches on the inside of the lid PRV seat can cause this.........

How about just cutting out a circular disc of silicone (like from a silicone trivet) and putting it in the base of the relief valve seat, then screw the relief valve in as usual?

This way the relief valve will press down on the silicone disc to make the seal.

Mine is a bit leaky as well... about to keg my first 'real' batch of beer and just trying to make sure everything goes right.... from the store it had been holding pressure and i just let out the pressure to give it a clean... with water in it (not pressurized at all) i get a leak from the pressure release valve... im going to take it all apart and put keg lube on all the seals but wanted to know if my issue may be more because there is no pressure or if i may have more of an issue... i have another keg i havent tried yet though, just trying to get some opinions on this, and ill check the other tomorrow...
