So I have my first batch fermenting away nicely in the carboy, but another problem has arisen. I bought a True Brew starting kit for really the fermenter and the bottling attachement, but I found out when I was sanitizing everything that the fermenter leaks around the spigot. Anyone else have this problem? I tried tightening it, but it didn't seem to stop the leak completely, drops still come out, about one drop every 10 seconds even with it tightened completely. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Had a similar situation with my bottling bucket. Don't know if this will apply to your set up, but I found out that the 2 white rubber gaskets go on the outside of the bucket. I had one on the inside, one on the outside which resulted in the same type of situation you describe--a slow drip. Doesn't happen with the 2 gaskets placed on the outside of the bucket.

Primary: Apfelwein
Bottled: Holiday Ale

Thank you mrbell, I had that same problem too. I had put one rubber washer on the inside, and one on the outside and it was leaking. I wish they would put that in the instructions with the kit when they sell it to you.

I'd suggest you clean those washers every few batches, esp with them on the outside as opposed to the inside. Nasty crap could grow there pretty easily.

My Williambrewing buckets had spigots with one washer. I have the washer placed on the outside. No drips, or leaks for 10 batches. Seems like a good system.
