were tickets distributed prior to 8am?

Yes, seems like some point around 7:45 they started giving out tickets. I'm pretty sure they reserved some of the first tickets, too, because DonFrap was near the front of the line before 8 and got a ticket in the 40's. My group arrived right around 8 and got the last few 60s.

a little odd to announce that tickets are being distributed at 8am, but seemingly distribute prior to that. they can run it however they see fit though.

applaud them for trying new things at least. the ticket system is a major improvement over having to stand in line for hours--and allows folks to actually walk around and buy goodies from other vendors.

Giving out tickets early doesn't really affect anything. Anyone that got a ticket before 8 would have been in line before anyone that arrived between 7:45 - 8 anyways.

Oh, so DonFrap did go up?

I was going to catch a ride up with him but then he said something came up

Yeah he mentioned his wife had been sick and he had thought about skipping to stay home with her, but I guess she felt better enough that he felt comfortable going up. I'm guessing it was too early to re-coordinate with you on the ride. Glad you made it up, though!

Yeah sorry Ataraxia my wife pushed me to go late night so I went, didn't really have time to recoordinate. Glad you made it up regardless! I'm at the pats game, may not remember this post lol

Haha, no worries. I figured I had to try doing (read: driving balls early) it myself at least once to see how it was

You said you were with a group in the high 60s? I was #66 in line but only saw the group that was before me (62-65).

Thoughts on this year's Maple BA?

Opened several Tripples so far this year. I keep going to these farmers markets with a plan (which doesn't include buying lots of Tripple, seeing as how I bought 4 at the first they were available) and yet... I keep winding up with more. I really love the beer, and I think excluding "Tripple" from the name is important from an expectation perspective since it leads people to think it's a Belgian Tripel. Anyway... tasting great, and I think it's tasting a bit better fresh than last year's did (a bit richer, without being sweeter). Opened one of last year's recently... so velvety and warming... like a rich warm liqueur by a wintertime fire. So I bought 3 more on Saturday.

Great day at the market by the way. Phenomenal fall weather, couldn't ask for anything better. Great to see almost all of the regular vendors there and lots of great produce still. Someone mentioned it earlier, but I'll second the praise for the kombucha guy. His stuff tastes great and is a virtual miracle hangover cure. Great to see everyone (friends, beer geeks, and regular market goers) in such great spirits.

Awesome. MT is such a great (and unique) beer.

Gotta say that I was let down with the Maple BA from last night. Enjoyed Maple BA in the past and also like the base beer, however, last night's bottle tasted thin with subdued aroma. Maybe it's because I've been drinking a lot of great stouts lately (DBD, KBBS, BBPT5, Four Quarters Imp Stout)...but still, odd to be disappointed with a Lawson's BA beer.

Have you opened one yet? Thoughts?

I've always found the maple barrel to be less than amazing, while the bourbon is killer. I'm also not a huge fan of the base beer. I thought this years maple barrel wasn't as good as some of the past years, it's all oaky and roasty, but lacked a lot of the maple flavor I'm used to with that beer.

Big fan of the bourbon and past years' maple variant. Really like the base beer too. (Feel like I might be in the minority there.) Last night's bottle seemed to fall short though. Bummer.

Was planning on opening my second bottle later this week with a friend (who is sharing Morning Delight). Now I feel compelled to find something else to bring..
