I finally got my ass into gear today and built a lagering/fermenting box. It's made out of 1.5" extruded polystyrene sheet, glued together with vinyl caulk. For refrigeration, I had the compressor and coils out of a cube fridge. I used a digital house thermostat for temperature control, I set it up to kick a relay running on the 12v power that also runs the fan. It works great, and not only do I get 41F-too hot temperature range, this thermostat is designed so that it will always run the compressor at least 4 minutes, and it will wait 4 minutes before turning it back on.

And so there were pictures, and the beer was good...

Parts list and wiring shematic.

Please?

I plan to do the same this weekend with 2 layers 1 Inch but, I won't be dissecting the original fridge. I plan to just remove the door and build the insulation around the top and sides, leaving the back of the fridge free to ventilate.
