Do you boil a lager different than you do an ale? Or is it just the conditioning that's different?
 
Boil is just the same. Unless you're using Pilsner malt, then many recommend a 90 minute boil to drive off DMS (though many do a vigorous 60min boil and have no issues). Recipes differ, but hot-side process is the same.

Since the difference between ale & lager is the yeast, it's only the yeast care & fermentation that are different.
