I am new to the canning scene, so I am looking for ways to create a generic label with my brewery name and a few other points of interest. Don't have a logo, so all of this along with artwork should be considered. I'll also include a blank space on the label so I can write in the name of the beer with a Sharpie.

@JMathie77 reached out in a different post to share great ideas. He suggested the name of a graphic artist to create a label and sticker giant as a printer, so that is one route I can follow. I feel certain there may be other companies who do this service (at varying prices) as well as print the labels inhouse. Or they may have generic templates I can add in my personal information to customize the label before ordering.

If anyone has ideas, names of companies, tips...etc, I will be most appreciative.

Not sure what you are looking for, but I’ve used this site to make labels for bottles.

https://www.beerlabelizer.com/

I just printed on regular paper and stuck on with milk...works surprisingly very well....

The site is free to use, and $5 gets you added features like importing photos etc...

I know that a friend who has a mobile canning line business here also includes labeling or sleeves as a part of her service. She's local to Chicago though so not of use to you. But you might check to see if any mobile canning line businesses in your area offer that service, also.

How exactly do you use the milk? Like a paint brush to apply it? Have you aged any of these beers- Did the label hold up, or were there any stinky milk smells?

I'd like to do a basic label for my brewery as well, but I'm not looking into any thing that is gonna take up a bunch of time or money.

I've looked at perhaps 6 different labels used by micro breweries of varying sizes. The cans they are using are 32 oz cans while mine are 12 oz or possibly 16 oz sizes, so this will have some design impact.

The one I liked best had a good bit of transparent material so portions of the can showed through and was designed nicely to be an accent color. I expect these labels to be the most expensive. Main thing is labels materials need to be be written on with a Sharpie.

Most other labels were full(er) coverage and not transparent. These are likely to be the easier ones to design and less expensive altho I doubt any of them are bargain priced. Neither of these label options would be likely produced on a basic home printer, but I could be wrong. I will probably look for printing on a roll by a large sticker company with competitive pricing....if I can find one. Still searching.
