Hey guys! I would like to keep a light beer on tap year around that most people, including the females, will enjoy... I also like to mix it up once in a while from IPA's especially during the summer months. My favorite light beer is by far Kona longboard.. It's super smooth and has a really good flavor.

I have looked for an all grain clone and have only found one but it doesn't seem right.

On Kona's website, they list what is used in the beer...
Malt-Pale(Premium 2 row)
Hops-Mt. Hood, hallertau, sterling, millenium.
Bitterness is 20 IBU... ABV is 4.6% and
Plato is 10.95.

Question is, do you think they are using 100% US pale 2 row for the grain bill?

As far as hops, which of those would you use as bittering? Do you think they dry hop at all or use the rest as flavor and aroma? Also, what kind of yeast would you recommend?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Ok just messing around in beersmith, here is what I came up with so far... Who knows how much and what hops they used for bittering or when they added them... Also not sure on if they dry hop or not.

So far
8.5 lbs pale 2 row
.25oz of millennium @60
.50oz of hallertau @5
.50oz of mt. Hood @5
.60oz of Sterling @5
WLP840(American lager yeast)

This puts it at
OG: 1.044
FG: 1.009
ABV: 4.62%
IBU: 20.1
SRM: 3.1

If I did decide to dry hop, it would probably be with mostly Sterling and a little hallertau.

I had it last night on draft, it stuck me as having some fruity hop flavors to it. Take that for what it's worth as to which of the hops to put in the 5 minute additions. Otherwise, I think you dunnit well

Thanks buddy... Yeah the only one of these hops that has citrus flavor is the sterling... The rest are spicy, herbal etc..

any update on how this recipe turned out? this is a favorite of my brother in law and I would love to make this for him as a gift.

Well I can't tell you for sure.. I think I ended up using California lager yeast instead.. I had to substitute one of the hops because I couldn't get any from my LHBS.. Then to top it off it was actually starting to taste pretty good in the keg, but I went to clean out my keezer a little bit and didn't notice the temp controller probe slipped out.. Came home late that night and found the my two kegs of beer were frozen.. Let them thaw out and shook them up,, then carbonated a little more but it ruined the taste of both kegs.

Oh man, that sucks! Well I'll try and post in here when I get around to brewing this. It's still a little warm in my basement to ferment a lager.
