Having an impromptu brew day tonight! My friend I was supposed to go grab some food/beers with tonight bailed, and I realized there was an hour to go before the LHBS closed. I wasn't in the mood for an AG brew day, so downstairs to grab the "Extreme Brewing" book for a good extract recipe and since the SWMBO is all out of the last wheat I brewed her, I figured I'd give the Kiwit a try(Kiwi wheat for those of you who don't have the book).

Just thought I'd share, and I officially have a problem. A few extra hours on a Sunday night and the first thing in my head is "what can I brew???". Plus it also helps that I just racked my Black Pearl Porter to secondary last nigh so my primary was just sitting there empty :( Can't just have an emptry primary collecting dust now can I!

Also, if anyone else tries to brew this, don't underestimate the sugars in those kiwis. I upped the DME a bit to hit my target OG(recipe called for LME so I was converting) and I wound up overshooting the recipe, and what BeerSmith predicted by 10 points. Sure it will still be good, just a bit stronger than planned.

Mine was fantastic that I made this summer. I actually made it with an AG base. At first it tasted off, but after double the normal time for my wits it tasted great. That beer went down so smoothly. I might have to make it again real soon.
