A family friend is in the insulation business. Said he could help build a box for fermantation chamber/kegorator. Just wonder if there is a specific cooling apparatus I could purchase, and what it would be called, to cool this homemade chamber. Is there any such device? or should I just use a fridge/freezer like most do?

You can take the compressor off of a mini fridge and build it into a custom box.

I had thought about AC, but didnt know how effective it would be, or the cost to run it might be higher

I think if I was gonna go with a mini fridge I would probably do one of those custom boxes around the fridge (just take the door off)

I am going to continue researching and see if I can find anything, but its probably just cheaper to use a fridge

Peltier (thermoelectric) Cooler. They run off 12V so you'll have to get a power supply, but they're solid state and cheap. Look for them and a power supply on e-bay. Make sure you use heat sinks and cooling fans when you run them. Nothing burns out a peltier faster than running with no heat dissipation.

I am lost with this whole peltier thing.. how expensive would it be to put together a unit, power supply, and heat dissipation unit and would it be able to maintain temps under 70? how about lagering?

How would you control the temperature? still use a LOVE controller or a something?

okay i did some homework. People have had hit or miss success with these on the forum. some like em other dont.

I think i will stick with a refrigerator :(
