ive clogged the lines with hops on the last couple of beers I've kegged. The issue was easily remedied, but I'd like to avoid it all together in the future. Are there any clever ways to leave the trub behind when siphoning into the keg? A simple filter of sorts? I don't mind floaters in my beer - in fact like them quite a bit. Clogging the tube on the other hand is no fun.

It sounds like secondary fermentation would help on future batches, I just never have spare carboys. If I bought another, I'd just be tempted to fill it with another batch. What about a hop sack at the bottom of the siphon?
 
I fill kegs of heavily dry hopped beer all the time from the primary with no issues. Just don't move the carboy the day you are racking because you will get a lot of particles in suspension. Just get the siphon started and slowly lower it until you see a slight amount of stuff being picked up, then pick it up slightly and youre golden. Also, I don't use any hop bags (I like to let em float freely) but I do have a big BIAB sparge bag that I line my bottling bucket with and transfer my wort into the bucket and siphon out so I can strain all the kettle hops before going into the carboy. I think this has helped immensely with keeping too much hop particulate out of my kegs/beer. hope this helps!
 
I never bring any sediment over to the keg whether I cold crash or not. I also have never had an issue with hop debris even on IPAs dry hopping with 2 ounces. Maybe look at your siphoning process;
Are you jamming the siphon to the bottom of the carboy from the start?
Are you jostling the carboy stirring things up before you siphon?
Are you cold crashing?

I usually carefully set the fermenter at the proper height careful not to disturb anything. Then let it sit for about 30 minutes while I sanitize and prepare everything to let anything I stirred up settle back down. Then I put the siphon in about 3 inches below the liquid level and slowly lower as needed. When I get to the bottom I tilt the fermenter slightly and prop it up with something to get the last of the liquid. My siphon usually hits the bottom but I do it gently and at the very end so I take as little gunk as possible.

Cold crashing for a day or two will help compact it as well.

Edit: I dry hop with pellets, straight in to the fermenter. No bag.
 
Thanks guys. I usually ferment up high so I don't need to move the carboy. I do however jamb the siphon int the bottom and accept I'm going to pull some trub. I will lower it slower this weekend and see how it goes. Thanks.
 
Don't let hops get into the primary/secondary in the first place. Can use whole leaf hops in kettle, and then use bazooka screen to filter wort. Easy
 
lol! I routinely dump many ounces of pellets in my primary once FG has been reached and let them percolate at ~68°F for 4-5 days, then start the crash.

And I'm still fascinated that ounces of pellet mush will hit the bottom of the carboy by the time the cold crash has only reached 50°F...
