Keg quick connect queries

I recently purchased 2 kegs. Owner says they are pin lock. I still have my old C02 regulator setup with quick connects and lines for 2 kegs. It is very difficult to get the quick connects on and off. I do not recall if I had pin lock or ball lock kegs. I do not know what to look for as far as differences. Not sure if it is the quick connects being old or?? Kegging my first brew in 8 years.

Should you confirm that the kegs match your fittings, the next step is to give everything a nice cleaning/soaking and possibly replace o-rings if you have them handy.

The quick connects have to slide and seal against the outside o-rings on the posts, so any gummy beer residue on either one could make that more difficult to impossible.

Are you using keg lube on the rubber o-ring around the top of the keg posts? That helps sliding QDs on and off.

Are the posts on the kegs pin lock? It's easy to see, the pin lock posts have a 1/8" long "pin" sticking out on each side of the posts. You turn the corresponding pin lock QDs and 1/8 of a turn to engage/disengage them over the pins.

I did not use any keg lube. I will need to purchase some. Googled pictures of pin lock posts. Definitely not pin lock kegs. I will look up pictures of ball lock and pin lock quick disconnects.

Definitely ball lock setups after looking up pictures of everything.

But the previous owner says they are, so maybe they were converted. Height and diameter are pretty good clues to that. 25" x 8.5" = ball lock; 22" x 9" = pin lock. Approximately and assuming five gallons.

Correct, Previous owner says they are but all the extra fittings and everything are ball lock connectors.
