but before you do, open taht keg one last time and pour yourself a pitcher of inspiration.

the picnic tap is easy to test though, thats a GOOD thing, here.
have a beer, and start blowing air through stuff. stop when it wont go and have yerself a looksie.

did you get the qd's to 'seat' properly with a click? did you just jam a ball lock qd on a pinlock keg (was this a kit, or a "collection"?)

hey, idea: take the tap off, release the pressure in the keg (to get your pitchers-worth out).
take something slim and push down on the top of the beer-out valve (the poppett).

does it move downwards? that's what the bl;ack qd has to make it do to open up the keg.

= =
edit:

ok we were posting at the same time, but still try the poppet valve to see if it's hard to open.

ok, opened the keg(got a beer:drunk:)
this is what i have: http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=325
i've blown through the picnic tap, it works when i press the pin inside the black part at the other end of the tube.

I am pretty sure i got the qds on right. the CO2 was i know for sure, and the line out clicked the same way.

Pushed down on the pin for the line out, it went down.

Yes the lines are correct. I just found the part that said "in" on the keg. It was on the black rubber handle part and is almost rubbed off :(

don't know - sound slike you should be getting beer.

I might bet yelled for about this one, but can you hook up your tap with no pressure, and blow (A LITTLE) air into the keg?

I bet you can't and i bet the dip tube is clogged

(if YOU win, you are going to have to pour yourself a beer for me.)

hook it up to the in or out?

hook the black beer (out) qd to the proper position (beer out w/ diptube).

put it in the right spot, and see if you can get "connectivity".
if air can go in, beer should come out

last question, and i didnt reread the whole thing, so it might be mnmy mistake, but your co2 tank is full, right? it's not the HIGH PRESSURE side that says 15psi, right?

(sorry bout that, im just buying time for me to figure this out)

ok, i let the pressure out of the keg again. i hooked up the beer out to the line out from the keg, could not blow in it. i unscrewed the beer out valve, and blew directly into that hole and i could hear air bubbling in the keg. the gas guage says that theres about 750 psi left in the tank. it was full when i got it, and i think i can refill it if i need to

yeah, if you are letting the pressure OUT of the keg, AGAIN, that's definately not the issue.

sooooooo..... (rrrr) :D .... you owe yourself a beer, for the air bubbles.

can you get a couple more qd's today (I think that you need at LEAST one more, no matter what)?

ok,.....

i unscrewed the beer out valve, and blew directly into that hole and i could hear air bubbling in the keg......

can you tell me exactly which 'beer out valve'?
did you take the top off of the beer qd, or did you take apart the metal poppet valve on the keg, and blow into the flared end of the dip tube?

maybe its the valve. did you replace o-rings in it, and seat them properly?

(AT least i think it's either the qd or kegvalve)

hey this is friggin SLOW, does this thing have a chat room?

hey free, there is a chat function at the top.
I'll wait there for a bit if you want to get more done quicker.

if you havent used it, i think you enter as annonymous so type:

/nick FreeM80s (then enter)

we can try to figure out how the 'whisper' works

The one the qd connects to on the keg. its the one that has the tube going to the bottom of the middle of the keg.

both. I used screwdriver on the beer qd and blew through that. then used wrench to unscrew valve from keg and blew into hole where valve was and air got through the metal tube going to the bottom of the keg[/QUOTE]

maybe its the valve. did you replace o-rings in it, and seat them properly?

not sure. it came with some o rigns bit i thought those were replacements for when the originals ran out. should i have put those o rings in?

hi chris, the best I can come up with, the keg post and the qd were incompatible.
every part was working, got air through. but attached, there was no beer.

I suggested that he set his keg up without the poppet valve spring inside the keg-post, reattach the qd, gas it up, and have a few beers while he waits for replacement parts

hey BOOMER, hows the keg workin fer ya so far? or did the two of you try to finish it yesterday?

Finished the keg yesterday. Well worth the beer soaking my living room took. I found the poppet valve finally(not in the keg) now im just waiting to hear back from kegconnections about the post and qd... or if nothing else i'll break down and buy new ones...

yaaaaaahhhh!

welcome to the wonderful world of "Oh, THAT'S what pressure does!"

ya know, even if they do ship replacements (and especially if they guarantee that they work together), I think a couple extra will do you wonders, especially since nothing seems to be within driving range for you. and there's extremely rarely such a thing as "I need fewer kegs".

Ah, my bad. Got in touch with kegconnections, got the replacement parts last week. I made another batch that is now in the keg and should be ready for the super bowl. gonna replace the qd and liquid out post then(hopefully). I sugar carb'd this one so idk how much of a good idea opening it to replace parts is gonna be. But, i know to do it OUTSIDE this time :)

big grin on that. good luck.

as far as natural carbonation, the beer has to be primed and sit about a week for the yeast to do its thing, then has to sit about 3 more weeks for it to infuse. (thats just a ballpark guess, trying to remember). if you open it early, then your CO2 is gone.

get in the habit of pulling the pressure valve twice more than you think you need.
