Found a guy selling a pallet of pin lock corny kegs.

Am I taking a risk by buying kegs that may need to be reconditioned, pressure checked, and cleaned?

Trying to think of a fair price that I can live with as I'm not sure what the failure rate of corny kegs are. Thanks.

We'll I get my kegs from a liquor store for 30 a pop. But these are good condition kegs. A far as ones that might be bad I don't know.

Yes you are taking a risk, how much are reconditioned kegs? $40 - guess at at least 75% being good so that would be $30/keg then take away $5 for reconditioning = $20-25 per keg for the whole pallet. Explain your reasoning and that you are taking a risk that some of the kegs will be duds when dealing with the seller and hopefully they will see it as a fair offer and not just you trying to lowball him.

Are you talking about corney kegs or sanke kegs? And is the liqour store selling you empty kegs for $30 - becuase AFAIK the breweries own the kegs not the liqour store so they can't sell them. /Stolen keg rant

Cleaned and pressure checked is usually how they're sold when used. I would say $25-$35 is an average price that I have seen. A LHBS near me is trying to sell them for $50 if you buy a few. To me, that is highway robbery considering I see them for far less.

I bought a skid of ball lock for $10 a piece! 25 kegs on the skid! Bought new o-rings and cleaned em. Never had a problem with any of them. This was back 3-4 years or so!
Total price with new orings , cost me about $13 a keg.

Since you are buying in bulk, I'd offer 10-15 per to start. Negotiate up to your limit, but 20-25 max. Around here reconditioned ones are $50.
