Keg mash tun.

Has any one got a link to a well designed keg mash tun that doesn't reqire heating to keep the mash temp?

Don't have a link, but what I've seen is they're wrapped in insulation, like a jacket with laces. I believe someone over here makes purpose built jackets, but a resourceful fellow such as yourself could undoubtebly rig up something for a fraction of the cost.

mine is a blanket that is made using industrial insulation blanket material.many poeple get water heater insulation and fit it to their mash tun. go to www.boathousebrewery.com and look at his set up, and you'll see what i mean. the kind BeeGee is talkingabout is like the one on my mash tun (my gallery). i just mash in, put the lid on, and let it sit for 60 minutes. i may lose a little, but not much at all.

hAVE YOU HAD ANY LUCK FINDING A DESIGN? i HAVE SEEN SOME PICS ON THE WEB BUT ALL APPAEAR TO HAVE SOME REHEATING DEVICE.

mY BREWBUDDY AND i USE A sABCO MASHTUN (IF YOU AREN'T FAMILIAR THEY ARE COMMERCIALLY CONVERTED sANKE KEGS) i AM LOOKING FOR A SUPPLIER OF HIGHTEMP INSULATION WE CAN WRAP AROUND THE TUN. hIGHTEMP BECAUSE WE USE THIS RIG ON A PROPANE BURNER AND NEED TO ADD HEAT DURING STEP MASHES OR TO KEEP IT FROM COOLING DURING WINTER BREW SESSIONS.

WONDERING IF YOU HAVE COME ACCROSS ANY HIGH TEMP INSULATION SUPPLIERS IN YOUR RESEARCH?

I think some folks get a little anal about this insulation stuff. I have found that having initial water temp at 170 then adding grain will hold the temp around 155 for an hour
