Hey guys. I have a question about a lid I have on a keg. I was looking at chicompany.net and they had this..

http://www.chicompany.net/oval-pin-lock-843.html

I have that type of lid on a pin lock keg I have. How does it work?

Also, If anyone is on the lookout for Pin Lock kegs and would trade for a ball lock kegs, please send me a message or hit me up in this thread. I will include pics if needed. I believe it is a Firestone Keg.

its pretty easy to figure out. pull the pin to release the pressure inside the keg. its great for purging the headspace in the keg.

whats the quality of your pin lock keg? im interested in trading if we both agree.

thanks

nic

It has a static pressure release. No ring to pull and "burp" the keg. It vents when pressure builds up over a set point.

You need something like this

to release the pressure on the gas in post. Or, just use a small screwdriver and depress the gas in poppet.

It looks like it is in good condition. I don't have the means to hook it up to c02 to pressure test it as I only have a ball lock setup. It was given to me after I got the ball lock setup. The o-rings will need to be changed and I did take it all apart to check it out and it looked good. There is a dent on the bottom. It may be intentional as it is directly under the liquid out dip tube and seems to not be out of place. I will get some pictures tonight for you.

Also I am new with the whole kegging thing and all so bear with me. This one is shorter then my ball lock. It seems fatter though so I am sure it is a 5 gal. keg. May be a characteristic of this type of keg so I don't know.

EDIT: Here are the pics....

The one above shows the indent where I guess the last bit of liquid would flow to the tube and the below shows how the bottom of the keg adjusts for the indent. After a lot of looking at it, I believe it is the nature of the keg and not a after production dent.

I haven't cleaned it since I never had a use for it. I would clean it for you if you did want it. I don't know anyone who has a pin lock setup to pressure test it. What you think?

thanks for the detailed pics. im sorry to say i dont have any available ball lock kegs i could trade. currently i have 2 being used and recently traded for 2 more pin lock kegs. is there another item you are willing to trade for or do you have an expected price you would be willing to sell it at?

thanks

nic

The only equipment I have to trade would be this keg. I don't really have any other items to trade with. I will have this pin lock keg though. So if you still wanna do a keg trade at some point, we can.

My offer still stands for a keg trade with anyone if they are interested.
