I am on the eve of kegging my first beer and started wondering what is the best way to clean the lines etc. I plan on building a keezer in the future, but for now am using the picnic tap set up. Taking it everything apart and cleaning is easy now, but what about when I get a more complex set up? Is filling the keg with starsan, pressurizing and sending through the lines a good idea? Will the lower temp reduce the sanatizig properties? Do the gas lines need to be cleaned or only the beer lines? How do you guys with 5-6 taps keep everything clean? How often do you clean the inside of the fridge/freezer?

Thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll think up more questions as I sit here and drink what may be my last case of bottled homebrew. :tank:

I will take apart the keg and soak the poppets and O-rings in oxyclean free and water for a few minutes then scrub and wash them with fresh water. I'll hook everything back up and fill the keg with oxyclean free and water solution let it sit to remove any previous beer. Then flush the beer lines with the solution. Then I flush the beer lines with starsan to sanitize eveything.

You're good to go.

To bring this back up again...how long do you let the keg sit and how long/quickly do you do this before kegging?

I let it sit for 24 hours but that is because life gets in the way. A few hours should be all you need if you're in a rush.
