...and it is a starter home brew kit!

My Dad was an avid homebrewer before he died but it was probably the only skill of his that he did not pass down to me, he was in New Zealand and I live in the US so distance played the major part in that.

My two daughters decided it was about time that I carried on the family tradition and ordered me a simple kit from Brooklyn Brew Shop and chose the IPA knowing that I like them a lot.

My natural instinct was to learn as much as I could about the art so I googled and here I am. I know this is going to turn into a life's work for me and I look for ward to learning.

I am a native New Zealander and I live in CT, worked in Motor Racing all my life, love fast boats and shooting. My wife and I have five children, 20 to 25, none living in this State though.

My Dad died last month from complications related to that most awful of afflictions, Alzheimer's and it is only fitting that I take up the art of brewing in his memory, cheers Dad!

:mug: Cheers to your Dad!!! :mug:

You're in the right place to learn about home brewing. Pick up a copy of How to Brew by John Palmer and spend as much time as you can on this site. That's all there is too it.

One other thing: RDWHAHB. Learn it, live it.

Cheers.

Welcome to the obsession! There's a wealth of expertise on this site, and lots of folks willing to help. Happy father's day!

Welcome to the forum and cheers to your Dad on Fathers Day..

I got started the same way, got a homebrewing kit for Fathers Day a few years ago, bet alot of guys got started in this hobby (obsession ) that way.

Welcome aboard! There is a wealth of information available here.

When I started out, I went through each forum section and read up on all of the stickies, even the ones I felt were too advanced for me, turns out I was glad I did, it stuck in my mind so if there was an issue while brewing I had an idea where I read about similar situations.

If you have any questions, I would be glad to help out in any way I can, if I don't have a good answer to your question at least I can give you some well thought out sarcasm! :D
