My wife bought me a CrankAndStein 2D for my birthday last month and I just finished up my build tonight. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and can't wait for my next brew session!

Main Features:
  1. I welded the frame out of 1.5" 16 gauge square tubing.
  2. It's powered by a Dayton 1/4 hp motor I picked up for $20 a couple years ago on a local classifieds site.
  3. Top and bottom shelves are 3/4" oak plywood. The plywood got a couple coats of polyurthane.
  4. The hopper is a five gallon water bottle.
  5. There's clearance for a 5 gallon bucket below the mill.
I have more photos and details on my blog for anyone that's interested.

Sweet, I like the KISS approach.

FWIW, it would look just as sweet if not sweeter with a pulley/belt guard.

Regardless, I'm jealous:rockin:

Yeah, I'm still considering adding one, but for right now I just wanted to be able to use it. In the meantime I've given my kids the safety speech and told them they're never to touch it.

...And that was when they waited patiently for Dad to leave them alone for more that 10 minutes so they could touch the grain mill... Haha!

Looks freaking awesome!

Noob here - is there a way you can control/set the RPM of the motor?

I'm not an expert, but I believe there is a way to do it with some kind of controller, but I've never tried it. I've heard you can quickly damage the motor if you do it wrong (e.g. dimmer switch). This one uses a simple on/off switch. It's the pulley sizes (1.5" and 12") that reduce the speed down to around 200 RPM's.

I knew I was missing something :drunk:
I'm going to be pissed at myself for the next couple days for missing that.
