Just finished brewing my first batch. New SCOBY is healthy, old scoby looks a bit off

nw scoby is thick and cream color and looks great. Old scoby is a bit darker. Is this normal?

EDIT: it was just a slightly darker film kinda sorta connected to it. So I pealed it off and ate it. Now the old scoby looks cream color and perfect again. weird.

hope that slightly darker film isnt poisonous. haha.
 
The darker portions are usually just yeast, while the cream section is the cellulose layer produced by acetobacteria. Should be all good! :mug:
