just brewer my first beer ever, an American Pale Ale. Looked really cool in the carboy and lots of bubbles so I know it is doing it's thing!! Gonna transfer to bottles either Thursday or Friday as it will be one week next Friday! Thoughts/advice welcomed!

Let it sit for at least 14 days unless you are taking gravity readings and making sure the fermenting is all done. Otherwise you will have bottle grenades. If you do not have a hydrometer, Id wait 3 weeks to be safe.

If you can wait 4-6 weeks to bottle then an additional week to bottle condition you will not be disappointed. Don't rush your masterpiece.

Being a first brew, I understand the desire to bottle it soon, but I agree with others on waiting a bit.
At the very least, give it till maybe Sunday or the following weekend. You willbe rewarded with a better conditioned beer.

ok, will do. i'm not in a rush to bottle, just attempting to follow the supplied directions. but as i read, i see that not all "supplied" directions are best! It will give me time to get a few of the bottling supplies in better order anyways!

Good deal. Yes, not all included directions are optimum, and sometimes they can ride the fine line between making beer and making bottle bombs. Patience is a virtue. But when you actually taste that first bottle, it will hard to keep from drinking them all right away!

Homercidal: you are correct. I've been die'n to start this, and I believe that the time issue is a virtue, as I've been enjoy'n my Uncle's home brew for years. It is good stuff, but I've got that drive to do it better than him! ;)

Ok, so I've waited three weeks and gonna bottle tonight. The weather here is crappy so I'm gonna make the best use of my time: bottling!!! I think I'm going to wait 7-10 days to condition in bottles then give on a try. Advice/comments!?

Yep do not over fill!!!!

Also give your test subject at least a day in the fridge too.

I think that is a good timeframe. based on experience, I would wait closer to ten days than 7. amazing how much difference that can make. plus if you are anything like me, once you "try one" it is on.

I cannot count the number of batches I have had that were delicious and perfect...but only got that way as I was finishing my last one!

Well got it into bottles, 46 in total, with only one broken through the capping process!!! Now on to wait 7-10 days before we sample!!!
