Hey folks.

Anyone out there brewed Jamil's Russian Imperial Stout? How'd it turn out? How would you compare it to a Rasputin (commercial or clone)?

I'm trying to decide which to brew ..

I haven't done either, but the past two years I've done two RIS's; One from NB and another custom. My 2 cents.. The flavor get's better and better over time, meaning don't pass judgement at less than 6 months conditioning - and after 12 months in the cellar, GREAT! It's fascinating how this brew changes over time.

I haven't brewed either. But, I'm drinking a victory storm king and the empty rasputin bottle atop my kegerator/beerfridge is judging me ferociously, gotta love that mad monk. Rasputin is just plain good ol' fashioned delicious, you already know that. So, brew Jamil's. Otherwise you'll never know for sure which one you like better, can't take others opinions too seriously when discussing what will taste better to you.

Never had Jamil's, but I really like the Rasputin. I don't think you could go wrong with ANY RIS recipe. Just make it big and lay it down for at LEAST 6 months, and really closer to a year.
