Would it be possible or even beneficial to brew beer in a decommissioned jack daniels barrel?

I would use it for aging something worthy... Ferment as you would normally, but then get it into the barrel for a good amount of aging.

definitely. how long ago was it emptied? You need to make sure it stays swelled.

If it's too big of a barrel to age beer in, you could definitely primary in it too. It'd just be a PITA to clean out. Firestone Walker primaries all of their beers in huge wooden barrels

If I could,I'd brew the same beer in 5-6 buckets,then secondary the whole mess together! Best use for that barrel. Don't waste it on primary.
