Start building the bar for my basement. I'm hoping to have it installed and ready by next weekend(Superbowl). Got a lot done today only had time for a couple pics. More to come!

I'm constructing the bar itself in my garage.
It's 7' long

I'm about to build my bar as well, so I'm interested and reading up a lot on what others have done. Question - what is the height to the top of the bar? Or perhaps more importantly, what is the distance from the top of the bar to the seats on the barstools? I think I'm going to make mine about 42" or about 12" above the seats on the stools.

Good luck getting it done by next weekend!:mug:

I made my height about 41 3/5" plus 1" for the top. Also i found it a lot easier to frame with 2x3 instead of 2x4. Good luck and Thanks.

I don't know about the key pad to change the scroll, but I've seen the scroll display on sale at a few different places (namely sams). If you can't find a key pad for it you could always replace it with another.

Was up at 6am this morning out in the garage working on the bar, go the whole thing sanded and the back side painted. I'm currently working on the picture frame molding for the front side. Its going to be a glossy black on top of red oak veneer. Pics will be posted later. Hopefully with the progress i'm making i can have the whole thing polyed and ready by tonight/tomorrow morning.

Got the main part of the bar down into the basement, also the Keezer. Need to Hit the Top with one more coat of poly in the morning and add the molding to the front of the bar. It'll do for tomorrow but I have lots more to do after that.
Here's so more pics...

Decided to display some of my beers from my cellar. Notice the hop garland that I snagged from a Sam Adams booth at a recent beer tasting:mug:

pics of the top and front done? did u make it today?

PS--u deserve a nice cold one for gettin that done in a week

Nice setup! Looks like the perfect place to go relax just about any time. Keep feeding the pics as you go, it's really encouraging for when all the kids are out of the hosue here and I get the basement to myself.

Bumpin this thread back up, did more work on the bar this weekend. Its raining here in NJ so it was either brew or work on the bar. And working on the bar requires less prep and cleanup! I'll post pics later:mug:
