First batch (of 3 batchs)- it is a lager kit with what I can only guess was an ale yeast. My fermenter has been bubbling away for about 2.5 weeks. My FG has leveled out. Gonna bottle on friday. decided to have a sip after taking my readingand it tastes...well very much how I would have imagined the extract to taste. You know that lovely waft you get when you add your extract to your boiling water. It tastes like a beery version of that. Not at all unpleasent. Quite sweet like honey. But not like lager....or ale. Like extract!

Has something gone wrong?

Cheers

It sounds like you tasted it under less than ideal circumstances. Sure, it can be fun to snag a taste, but it won't taste quite right for several more weeks in the bottles. Don't worry.

Since it didn't make your stomach churn, I bet your beer will end up just fine.

carbonation + bottle conditioning = flavors do the happy dance. Time heals all things, even beer (as some wise guy on here once told :cross:)
