This is my 4th batch, and the first one that i'm not planning on using someone else's recipe for...it's nothing difficult, but I just want a couple more sets of eyes on it to see if i'm making any mistakes before I even start. thanks!!

Unnamed IPA - 2.5 gallon batch

3 lbs extra light DME
1 lb amber DME

.5oz Amarillo at 60 mins
.5oz Amarillo at 15 minutes
.5oz Amarillo at 5 minutes

about 6g safale us-05

Primary for 2 weeks
secondary to dry hop with 1oz Falconers Flight for 2 weeks (or possibly just a 4 week primary with the hops coming halfway through, not decided yet)

Thoughts? I have some crystal and caramel malt lying around I could steep to start off but i'm not sure it's necessary. Also, the hop choice is just based on what I currently have around. If necessary I could grab something else.

Thanks all!

Amarillo is great for an IPA - you might run the numbers through a calculator just to see if the IBU's line up with your expectations.

And, go ahead and pitch the entire packet of yeast. No point in cutting that in half.

As for steeping grains - go ahead if you wish; amber DME has Munich and C60 in it (according to Briess), so you'll probably be fine the way you are. Try it and see!

Cheers!

I would keep your 4 week total timeline, but add the dry hops with a week left instead of two weeks
