Is this a good mash tun?

My LHBS sells this mash tun. Its a 12 gallon rectangular cooler.

It seems to be a pretty good deal and a simple one stop option. I'm concerned on the quality (CPVC)/shape of the manifold and the overall cooler size. What do you think of the CPVC manifold vs a copper? Would I have the flexibility to do both 5 gallon and a 10 gallon batches?

Thats the exact setup I had for my first all grain system. It worked pretty well. Cpvc is fine vs copper. You can always upgrade the manifold to copper for about $15. I was doing 5 gallon batches just fine. I think with a 20+ lb grain bill that 10 gallon batches will be a little tight. I never tried it but I'm pretty sure others use this setup for 10 gallons.

It will work for everything up to 10 gal batches of 1.060 and smaller. But it won't do a 10 gal Barleywine( it will barely do a 5 gallon BW)

Get the stuff at your local store and follow Denny's Cheap and eazy setup
