So, I planted 3 rhizomes (2 colombus, 1 chinook) on or about May 1. I've been watering them regularly, once daily on hot days, otherwise about every other day.
I was getting anxious, so last weekend I hand-dug the hills to find my rhizomes. There was no growth that I could see. No roots, no sprouts, no nothing. Just the rhizome. It was moist, and the soil was warm. They all seemed to be in decent shape.
Should I hold out hope that these will still sprout? Or should I just go ahead and plant some crowns? I know a local farm has crowns for sale all summer.
Is there any hope?
