Is something wrong here?

this came up on the top of my brown ale fermenter when i opened it up today...it almost looked like a hardened yeast cake all broken up..floating on top of the beer.

Is there supposed to be a picture? If so I can't see anything.

If not, hard to tell without a picture. But it sounds like the trub has just separated and risen up due to the CO2 carrying it to the top. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah, Hard to say without a picture, but it sounds normal.
