Im 39 never had my own kids,Just got married 2 months ago,my wife Ive been with each other for almost nine years now,and never thought Id get married she has 2 boys 10&12 now which Ive basically raised so far. JUst found out today she is now pregnant! I was shocked and a bit scared and tripped out at first but now I just feel joy and anticipation/excitement of new plans. After being "carefull" about having kids for the last 8 years-it shure didnt take more than a few times for it to actually happen which we decided to try(kind-of). And in the time it could have happendI thought the odds were against me anyway,guess it was meant to be. Guess Ill be driving my 230000 miled car still for the next few years as I was saving for a downpayment on a new one soon-guess not now.Couldnt get her on my insurance in the 30 day period after getting married which wasnt discussed with me with my job.Grr.Hopefully she has it in Jan when I can sign her back on. I cant really just whip out 15 thousand dollars in a year or two. F hospitals and doctors anyway you dont always need them,right? I waste much money on unneaded (so-called) health insurance anyway when I really only believe in wholeistic doctors for the most part. Maybe its time I learn what the ef to do,hell they did it all the time back in the day without hospitals,why succome?

A typical hospital birth can easily reach that. Using a midwife instead cuts it down to just a couple grand at most.

My wife tried to eat tons of nutmeg because she heard it was a hallucinogen (if you ate lots). She didn't manage to down a single tablespoon and choked on it, instead. She's a Dean's List grad with straight A+ across the board... stupid kid-mistakes don't mean that they're stupid people.

And that's coocoo banana. I live in Socialist Canada, so I was mega-pissed when I had to pay $100/night for a private room. But from what I've heard, the care in the US is miles ahead. We had a good experience, but I slept on the most uncomfortable cot that man has ever invented.

And she wasn't wrong. Just be prepared to wait 6 hours for your body to metabolise it before it kicks in. And to be high for the next two days.

Actually you only need to start with fresh, whole nutmeg and grind it down yourself. Only a few tablespoons needed. Mix with milk, steel your nerves and down it as fast as possible. Erowid.org for more info.

Creamy, if you're not wealthy enough to pay somebody to wipe your butt for you when you're 90, you'll need kids to guilt into doing it for you. At some point you might want to unleash a younger, updated version of yourself on humanity; just to get even.

Then again, if you do have kids, you'll likely be sleep deprived for the next 7 years. Last time I checked, it was about $6,000.00 per kid at the hospital; THEN you get all those dr bills as they're growing up. Kind of a toss up eh? I know this isn't very helpful, but don't sweat it. Just live life & let whatever happens, happen. Life is too damned short not to live it with some gusto. In the immortal words of Henry David Thoreau:

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

I've been speaking to a few friends that are on the fence for kids... and I all I keep telling them is that if you don't WANT kids, don't have them.

I love mine more than anything on the face of this planet, and that's what makes all the headaches worthwhile. I wanted to have a child with my wife, and that's why I assume responsibilities as I do. The headaches and difficulties were known beforehand, and I accepted the responsibility of dealing with these (with my wife) before we even had our daughter.

It's not easy raising a child, so if you're not interested, don't bother with it. Don't chance that you'll enjoy parenting afterwards.
