I want to like this post but im having a hard time doing so.
So many love/hate discriptors thrown atop a beer that I do not have enjoyable history with.
It's pretty fantastic in my opinion. Definitely getting lots of over ripe peach and funk. Shouldn't have said Peach-o because it's not an articifial type flavor. It's nice and light on the tongue and not overly sweet or malty tasting. Light caramelized malt and sticky Peach and some mild tartness. If the most recent Pissenlit tickles your fancy you'd dig these.

Edit: little black peppery tingle on the exhale after swallow. I am in love with this and a 750ml doesn't have me getting too spooky since it's "4.7%".

I have them all in stock for around $12 with my discount. Lots of trades/shipping in the works lmk if you want to do a little something something. I have Pissenlit, Saison and Dark White at the moment.

Picked this and the regular saison up today. It's really tasty, I don't love it as much as the past few bottles of Saison I've had but I'd get this again. Funky fruit juice with a peppery aftertaste. Passed up a bottle of Dark White but now I'm thinking I should rectify that.

Do it. Dark White is fantastic!

Had Fantome Sur Lie on tap today, maybe Portland is back in the in crowd!

Since it was a good tome day thought I'd do some spring cleaning. Have an extra Fantome T-shirt in large that I'd like to send to another fan of tome. Don't worry, I haven't been wearing this one. I think Shelton printed these back in '12 or something for the first BBBoo release. If you wear a size large and enjoy the tomes, reply, open a bottle and post a picture. First one gets the shirt, US only, I'm a broke MF.

Where did you grab it on tap in Portland? I did recently see a pretty big bottle drop around town

I am fairly new to the tome world. It just doesnt show its face that often around here. I picked up the Saison last week, what is the recommendation on drinking now verse waiting?
The general rule of thumb with any beer really is if you never tried it before just crack it because why the **** not?

Some tomes aren't great out the gate, a few months and they easily hit a sweet spot but I have cracked a few fresh and they were awesome.

tldr; drink it.

Drank a BB 2018 magic ghost over the weekend instead of getting to the desert ghost like i wanted to.

Holy moses was it sweet... it was like cotton candy moreso than tea but as it warmed it had a tea-like astringency about it. Fun to revisit but that tome is not my favorite.

I always grab a few. Drink one now decide on the rest after. Inevitably no bottle will be the same as the one you just had even if it's the same batch. I've gotten lucky and found a string of Sur Lie bottles that all tasted amazing/the same. Doesn't happen often though

I'm assuming this is the latest batch of Sur Lie to hit the US (or at least California). It's definitely different than the past couple bottles I had but tastes similar to what I had on draft a couple weeks back (sorry, haven't had enough tomes to be more familiar with the variation). What jumps out most is that the alcohol is a little more apparent, aside from that less tropical fruit than last time but a really nice funky strawberry thing going on with a good amount of bitterness.

Belmont station had it on for a week, delicious and $5 a glass
They had bottles of Coffee Ruby and Chocolat too. Hadn't seen Chocolat in at least a few years and had never even heard of Coffee Ruby. Very happily paid about $15 a bottle for them and grinned like a fool the whole way to my car.

"Funky strawberry" was my take away from the first bottle I had five years ago. Glad to hear it's "back" to it's greatness and really hope I can find a bottle in Portland.
