I have terrible memory, which works out well in this case. Every time I open one of these bottles I am reminded how much I truly love it.
My taste buds are currently getting gangbanged by 50 soft, sweet, and delicate angels.

This went from box on porch to freezer to glass in about 25 minutes after I got home from work.

Another clean tasting saison with no frills/Fantome dazzel. It tastes like a staple, belgian golden ale or saison. Upfront flavors are yeast derived - clove and pear with a little black pepper/allspice. Slightly bitter with a faint touch of wheat and coriander. Im happy that it doesnt have any "green" vegetal matter taste but at the same time its very plain and under-developed by tome standards.

Just out of curiosity, did your Sante 20 have a cork? Both of mine just have a white cap and no cork. Not really a big deal, just wondering.

Drinking a Pissenlit right now (see Mark Intiharing thread). Label says Lot B A 2012 or something like that.

Tastes great. Slightly tart, peppery spice, hint of funk.

Really think this is a 2016 bottle with a 2012 label. 'Tomes gonna 'Tome.

Thanks GRDave
Yeah, those came out here earlier this year. Didn't even notice the label date. Sorry if I got your hopes up.

Will try and have it opened before the weekend. No-one on here opened one of these yet? I was surprised to see it, seeing as I have heard nothing about it at all.
2+ months ago i posted a pic that Dany shared. Have not heard a peep about it since. You are the first wild encounter im aware of other than untappd where most of the checkins are less than 1 out of 5 stars

Do you still need a flip top version? I can pick one up for you.
if the fliptop is artist 2 sure (unless there is considerable price difference between the fliptop and non.) not sure why both formats were bottled this time?

i think i still have a fliptop artist 1.

I visited Fantome last week and Dany asked me about Artist 2. He sent them to the US a couple months ago and hadn't heard anything good, bad, or other. As soon as I got back to the US, it hit shelves in Brooklyn. I grabbed a fliptop. Assuming the top doesn't fly off the bottle and blind me, I'll report back when I open it.

So many mixed feelings about this post....

Could you imagine, if only we lived in a free country where we could order directly from Dany. Getting his wonderful creations in a timely manner without the worries of a distributor picking and choosing who can/cannot get such products. I would even pay more per bottle if I knew it was all going to Dany instead of a distributor/retailer/3rd party person who just has to have their share of the process too.

I kept hearing about the Brassin Special De Noel from the Tome mega tasting a while back. What's the deal with that version of Noel? Was it a special one-off? Would this 1994 bottle (below) be essentially similar...if anyone can know...?

I wish it was the same or even ballparked as a similar beer.

I have/had several 90's Noel bottlings and none of them come even close to being anything like the "special unique bergerie" noel bottling that has the "shepard holding a lamb" logo. That beer was just insanely delicious and im having a hard time admitting this but it was even better than loch ness.

I place loch ness and that 93 unique noel into the category of "holy **** Dany made a barleywine/old ale."

Edit: Are the pictured bottles in your possession? Because I will willingly pop a 94/95/96 noel in the name of science and report back with misguided opinion if it will help make up your mind to just giving them to me. ;)

Opened Artist 2 tonight. It gushed at first and then a very slow steady stream of foam poured out. I didn't lose too much. It's the darkest fantome I've had. The picture may look black, but it's more of an extremely deep reddish brown.

The taste reminded me of a lightly sour flanders red with a long bitter finish. At colder temps the flavor was fairly muted. I enjoyed it much more as it warmed. The booze adds a little bite at the end. There's more going on here, but I lack the ability to convey it all. It paired well with my Kid Cuisine pizza.

Overall, I found myself wanting more when it was gone. Would tome again. My wife enjoyed it and she is far from an evangelical fantomian. If I can find one, I'll grab another bottle to sit on for a while.
