Yes, that is as cheap as you will find a round one. I may order a few for work. I need some new ones.

I like round versus rectangle. I think it works really well. I have a false bottom in mine (craigslist, no clue where it came from)

I say pull the trigger

Just to put it out there, but Target has 52 qt (13 gallon) rectangular Igloo coolers for 20 bucks with the unscrew spigot that leaves a 1/2" drilled hole.

Yep, and I would have bought one tonight but all they had was the red one and fussy me wants blue.

Now would a single ss braid drain work in that, or would I have to build one of those PVC manifolds (trying to keep this as simple as possible)?

I just bought all the stuff I needed for the CPVC deal and it was ~20 bucks...Home Depot would have been cheaper than Lowes. I bought the wrong ball valve on purpose thinking it would work. It didn't, but thats my fault.

As for construction I won't be using any glue, but rather copper wire to keep things together tight enough to not fall apart.

I would do it. I went with a 5 gal due to my future space issues. I would suggest a copper manifold then you can dry fit it for easy cleaning. Good luck with whatever you decide!

My concern with the bigger mash tun, is that I really don't plan brewing batches bigger than 5 gallons. anything over 10 gallons will just lose temperature faster. Am I wrong?
