I'm looking for a good flowery citrusy all grain IPA recipe. I have tried a few box kits that I didn't care for and I have done the DFH 60 minute clone a few times. To me the 60 is a spicy IPA that I also love. I really want to make something with a nice citrusy grapefruit taste. Anyone got one?

try my Red Dragon IPA, it's in my recipe pulldown. :mug:

i was shocked at this recipe - it tasted like eating grapefruit and a big part of this was the aroma. also very easy

11 lbs 2 row
.5 lb crystal 40
.5 lb wheat
1 oz cascade pellet 60
.5 oz @ 30
1 oz @ 0
1.5 oz dry

my og was 1.054

How about a recipe like that above, but with an amarillo/cascade combo for the hopping? That would be a citrusy bonanza.

I dry hopped mine in the keg with Amarillo and left them in there the whole time. By the time I got to the bottom of the keg it had a very pronounced grapefruit taste.

I would be willing to try cascade and amarillo but how much and at what times? I don't have any idea how to formulate a recipe.

Summit also is very citrusy without getting resiny. So is Ahtanum. Cascades and Amarillo will work just fine, too!

If I really want some serious citrus going on in a five gallon batch, I add 1.5-2 oz at 20 minutes, 1-1.5 oz at 7 minutes, 1 oz at 3 minutes, 1 oz at knockout, and dry hop for at least a week with a couple ounces. Of all the hops mentioned, mix and match!

Think about getting yourself Ray Daniels', Designing Great Beers.

Anytime I hear someone say they don't know about formulating recipes I think back on when I got this book and it changed my brewing forever. This book will tell you everything you need to know about malt, hop and yeast selection and brewing within a given style. It'll take you to the next level.

Cascades hop additions at 60, 30, 0 and dry hopping will give you an amazing grapefruity beer.

Thanks, I will definately pick this up. I'm having fun making other peoples recipes but I do look forward to making up my own someday.
