Okay, so a bunch of brewing friends are going to experiment and make a version of Palmer's Victory and Chaos IPA. The original idea was to keep everything the same with the exception of hop schedule. That's since gone out the window. However I still want to ask about how to best add the hops I have. I am looking for a lot of aroma and flavor, but not to the exclusion of bitterness. Also, any critiques on the recipe are welcome

Extract and Specialty Grain

8 lbs Briess Golden Light LME
0.5 lb Crystal 80L

2 oz Nugget 13%
3 oz East Kent Goldings 5%

WLP013 London Ale Yeast

Palmer's suggestion is:
2 oz Nugget @ 60 mins; 2 oz EKG @ 15 mins; 1 oz EKG @ 5 mins

My idea was:
2 oz Nugget @ 60 mins; 1 oz EKG @ 15 mins; 1 oz EKG @ 5 mins; 1 oz EKG @ flame-out

Will there be any great difference between the two? Is there a better schedule? Let me know. Prost! :mug:

There will be a little difference, but not huge. Personally, with a lighter IPA like this, I'd throw an ounce of nugget in at 60 and spread the rest out in the last 15-20 minutes of the boil.

I like to mix mine too. So, here's about what mine would look like. I'm no IPA expert though, I've only perfected one.

1 oz. Nugget (60)
.5oz. Nugget (15)
.5oz. EKG (15)
.5oz. EKG (10)
.5oz. Nugget (5)
.5oz. EKG (5)
1.5oz. EKG (dryhop)
