Stains freaking everything. Trying to use up this bottle so that I can go to Star San. Oh well, works fine, just makes everything piss yellow. Sucks...

do you let things sit for a length of time? only need a min to sterilize.. i typically have a 5 gallon bucket full of idophor during my brew day to dunk things in occasionally, though other than that i never really have any sitting anywhere

Go get your Star San now and use the iodophor for mash conversion testing ( if you are all grain ). I hated that it stained everything too, but I always swap out my vinyl every 6 months or so.

I use star san for everything except glass and kegs. Iodophor is great when you want to fill something all the way up and let it sit for a while like starter vessels, carboys and kegs (also the aforementioned equipment won't stain). It doesn't take much iodophor to make up 5 gallons of sanitizer and is much more cost effective than doing the same with star san. Also, if you plan to use rubber stoppers on glass, don't use star san. It leaves behind a slippery film and your stoppers will pop right back out. It's nice to have both around for different applications.

I usually fill my ferment bucket with the 5 gallon solution and let all my stuff soak during my boil. So, 1 hour stained my bucket and pretty much everything else. Oh well, it's sanitized though! Plus, I have a water bottle filled with it and forgot to dump it. So, a week later, the bottle is a definite yellow.
