Iodine Starch Conversion Test

Forgive the potentially ignorant question. I'm wanting to do an Iodine test for to check for proper starch conversion.

Is just straight Iodine what's needed, or is there a certain kind that is produced specifically for the brewing industry?

the chemistry store I have access to does not have liquid iodine.
