I just brewed my very first batch of home made beer, an IPA, 4 1/8 gallons. I bottled it 5 days ago and wasn't sure if it will be any good. I just returned from the grocery store where I took a few bottles off the shelf and tried to detect carbonation in each bottle. Clear glass was easy to inspect but not so easy to see inside the brown bottles. I simply turned the bottles gently upside down and I saw a few large bubbles rise which would happen without carbonation. But then I noticed the tiny little fizzy bubbles rise from the bottlecap going upward. I came home and did the same thing with my bottled IPA and, low and behold, I saw those tiny little bubbles rise up from the bottle cap after I turned it upside down. I want to think that is a good sign.

Patience. 2-3 weeks + is typical to fully carb a bottle.

Get brewing your next batch, then build a "pipeline" waiting is easier when you have lots of delicious beer to consume :mug:

Good suggestion. I wanted to see how my first try at this turns out. If good, it will be me the confidence to build a pipeline like you recommended. A continueous supply of stout, black, and strong IPAs sounds good

Welcome..tons of info...be patient..4 weeks min in ferment..two weeks carbing in the bottle..is a general rule as a minimum. I know youll want to taste it at a week feel free to go ahead but it wont be "done"..."the waiting is the harrrrddddeeesssttt part" ~ Tom Petty
