Does anyone know the laws for homebrew and Bringing it across the US/Canadian border? I travel between Michigan and New York and would like to share some of my homebrew with my family back in New York. Do I need to declare it at the border?

If they ask you if you have any alcohol just tell them you have beer you made yourself. They are unlikely to give you any trouble.

24 12 ounce bottles is the limit before you will have to pay a tax on it. Should be the same going from Canada to US especially since you are a US citizen.
