Input and criticism on a Copper IPA

I am shooting for a floral, citrus, with some resin background. I want to use the special "B" to see what it would add to this style. If it doesn't work well I will be replacing it with 120L in the future.

10# -- 70% -- American 2-row Pale
2.5# - 18% -- American Munich (light)
.75# -- 5% -- American Crystal 40L
.5# -- 3.5% - Belgian Special "B"
.5# -- 3.5% - American Victory

1 oz -- Simcoe ---- 60
1 oz -- Palisade -- 30
1 oz -- Cascade --- 30
1 oz -- Palisade -- FO
1 oz -- Cascade --- FO

155F @ 75 min
175F @ Sparge (Batch)

75% Brewhouse
1.064 OG
1.014 FG (Predicted)
6.5% ABV (Predicted)
IBU 64
SRM 20
BU:GU 1.01

I'll probably use something clean like 1056.

Thanks for the help. :mug:

Chew some of the special B. At that weight you will give your beer a definite dried fruit aroma and flavor.

Its an aromatic malt so keep that in mind. I'm not sure its going to be a complementary blend with the goal you have in mind.

American 120 is more subdued to my palate.

Try it and report back on this post.

Hey thanks for that. I have 120L on hand, so if the "B" is way off center from what I am imagining I'll just go with the 120L.

I'm looking to brew several variations of this recipe to hone into a really unique beer.

I'm still mashing around with lots of ideas in my head, I just put this together to get me up and rolling on the project.

I have an accidental 'copper IPA' dry-hopping right now (I accidently got dark munich instead of regular) :drunk:

I was also thinking of loading up the late additions for a big hop bomb.

1 oz -- Summit ---- 60
1 oz -- Palisade -- 10
1 oz -- Cascade --- 10
1 oz -- Palisade -- FO
1 oz -- Cascade --- FO

Any thoughts on this one?

All-Right

I'm getting ready to go buy ingredients. Any last minute suggests or comments would be helpful.

Thanks :mug:

So this was gross.

The first taste of the cooled wort was ghastly, insipid and made me gag a little, ok a lot.

The first hydro reading was not much better, just extra yeasty. I just transferred to the bright tank (12 days fermenting). This thing is amazing. It is just what I was after, all but a little tweak here and there. To think I was worried over this one. Well I lost a gallon to a stupid mistake, but... Ya win some ya lose some.

Oh yeah I ended up going with the "B". I think that is where the initial gross came from, but is is awesome now.
