I recently brewed a very strong very chocolate malt heavy porter and the yeast went crazy to the point that I used a blow off tube. I then left for a trip for a week and the blow off tube had fallen out of the jar I was running it into, therefore compromising the airlock. I don't know how long it had been like this. The beer still smells really really excellent, however there does seem to be some strange stuff happening with the krausen. I assume that I have an infection, but perhaps not? Help me out?

Its probably fine. Nasties usually don't crawl up tubes. Just give your hydrometer sample a taste on bottling day to confirm it.
