Cool is what you want (upper 40's to low to mid 50's is probably about right). As the temperatures escalate and the rains dwindle it usually marks the end of the season. Always keep looking until you don't see any sign of them. The season can last several weeks.

Dang, I'm jealous! I went out (again, too late this season) and found a few true morels. Probably around a dozen. Blacks. We found a few dozen flase morels, though. Too bad they can make you sick. I can always find those.

Went out again a week later and didn't find any. I guess the season is over here. I've never seen the big ones like you got. Massive!
