If you like something like Sierra Nevada, you can get away with no dry hopping and bigger late additions. If you want your beer to be more malt forward, I'd only use 1 oz total. If you're a hop head, then by all means use 1 oz of each. Remember, you're making the beer for you so do whatever pleases your palate.
For instance I'm making a hop forward APA with a 1:1 BU:GU ratio in a couple weekends that's has about 2.5oz dry hops and 3 oz in the boil (most of that near the end). I prefer my APAs hop forward.
