On my way to boston next week..
I know of sam adams brewery and boston beerworks....

Anyone know of any good breweries in that general area, i can stop at on my drive up there on the way? Im from NYC

It's not a brewery, just a really cool bar called The Alchemist in Jamaica Plain. Also a restaurant called the Sunset Cafe has an excellent selection of beers on tap. Finally if you like the commercial English ales there is a place called the British Beer Company that has several locations, but they are all a bit of a hike from the city.

Other than that check out Harpoon as well as Sam Adams in Boston and if you make a trek down to Newport, RI there is also the Coastal Extreme Brewing Company (but that will be like a 2 hour drive).

In a non-beer related note, I would also recommend checking out a restaurant called Wagammamas in Fanueil Hall; it is an Asian Noodle bar from London and this is their first US location.

hey thanks, ill be sure to check out that asian noodle place wamamamam, also i hear HOUSTON resturant sells a mean steak in FEUNELL hall, thats where my hotel is.......

those bars u name are in BOSTON?? any ideas are great!

-harpoon i forgot about that! and its close, def check that out!!

The alchemist is in Jamaica Plain which is right outside Boston (15 minute drive maybe), Sunset Cafe is in Sommerville which is also right outside Boston (again 15 minute drive, just in the other direction).

I'm guessing your hotel is close to I-93 if you are in Fanueil so either of these should be easy to get to.

Across from Government Center, on Union St, is the Bell in Hand and the Marshall House. Also within stumbling distance is the Green Dragon. They serve good beer, but I love the atmosphere. Then if you're in the mood for the best pizza ever. Just take a short walk from there, into the North End. Go to Pizzeria Regina at 11 1/2 Thatcher St. It's not a fancy place by any means, but it's the best pizza ever.

If you want a good steak, go to the Capital Grille on Newbury Street. They aren't cheap, but I have never been disappointed. It's recommended to make a reservation.

The Beerworks over by Fenway is excellent.
Here are some great places with beer on tap in the Boston area to check out as well.
Redbones in Somerville is awesome
Sunset Grille has a great selection of bottles, (although I have had some experience with out of date bottles) and stuff on tap
Bukowski's Tavern is also an excellent place.

I don't know where exactly in Boston you're going to be, but if you're up for little bit of a drive, there's a place in Hudson (Mass Pike west to 495 North, get off at Rt. 85 ... I grew up here) called the Horseshoe Pub, which has over 100 regional brews, with over 70 of them on tap.

It's about a 45 minute drive outside of Boston, but well worth it if you're looking to sample a huge range of brews ... and the food is decent too.
