Hops

Hops works as an appetite suppressant, promotes lactation, stabilizes the nervous system and moves waste out of the body. Hops has been used for centuries to enhance breast size and to promote milk production in new mothers. It is second only to Fenugreek in estrogenic compounds and can be consumed, used in tea, or added to lotion and massaged directly into the breasts. Hops is also used to treat amenorrhea, angina, asthma, heartburn, high blood pressure and to increase sexual desire in women.

Guess I'll save my IPAs for the wife. Guess I'll lay off IPAs. Don't need man ****s. Oh, who am I fooling-I'll never give up IPAs. I'll have a really nice set of my own tits to play with.:rockin:

Sweet, it's win-win! I get to smell like hops (which pleases both HWMO and I), and I don't need any surgery to fill out my shirts! :mug:

And if you post pictures showing whether or not it works, we all win!:D

I think you missed another important aspect of hops!

Hey!!! You've got me thinking, if rubbings hops on our sweater bunnies helps with enlargement, perhaps I should try dumping some hops down HWMO's pants! :D

Sweet. I'm going to go home and give SWMBO a hop rubdown tonight and see if they grow.

....to promote milk production in new mothers.

Somehow, I don't think the pediatric association will endorse the consumption of IPA's for this purpose. But, I can't help but wonder what the milk would taste like if it weren't a health issue to the baby.

India Pale Mothers Bilk anyone?

I found this on Teh Intarwebz:

[H]ops has fairly strong estrogen-like properties, making it a phytoestrogen.5-8 The basis for this activity is a constituent called 8-prenyl naringenin. Like soy (another phytoestrogen), hops has been proposed as a treatment for menopausal symptoms. It is also marketed as a breast enhancement product. However, there is no direct evidence as yet that it works for either of these purposes.

As noted above, hops has estrogen-like effects. Like estrogen itself, hops might stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells.7,8 On this basis, women who have had breast cancer, or who are at high risk for it, should probably avoid hops until more is known. (Beer does not appear to contain enough of the active phytoestrogen in hops, 8-prenyl naringenin, to matter).

Hops may cause mild central nervous system (CNS) depression (drowsiness, slowed breathing and thinking), especially when taken with drugs or herbs/supplements that also cause CNS depression. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery.

Based on preliminary animal studies, hops may lower blood sugar levels in normal individuals, but may actually increase blood sugar in those with diabetes. Caution is advised in patients with diabetes or hypoglycemia, and in those taking drugs, herbs, or supplements that affect blood sugar. Serum glucose levels may need to be monitored by a healthcare provider, and medication adjustments may be necessary.

Laboratory research shows that estrogen-like substances in hops may have stimulatory or inhibitory effects on estrogen-sensitive parts of the body. It is not clear what interactions may occur when used with other hormonal therapies such as birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, tamoxifen, or aromatase inhibitors like letrozole. Hops may interfere with the way the body processes certain drugs using the liver's "cytochrome P450" enzyme system. As a result, the levels of these drugs may be decreased in the blood, and reduce the intended effects.

Hops compounds have also been shown to reduce triglycerides and free fatty acid blood levels and therefore may have additive effects with cholesterol-lowering drugs such as lovastatin.

Neat, huh? Science!

Note: The following is not medical advice. I make no personal claims as to the veracity of the following statements. They are merely quoted as interesting asides. So don't sue me, please.

Hops tea is a nerve tonic, a mild sedative, and a muscle relaxant (anti-spasmodic). Thus, it is good for intestinal colic. The herb also acts as an astringent and antibiotic, and is good for digestive tract infections. Hops is a remedy that has a marked relaxing effect upon the central nervous system, used extensively for the treatment of insomnia. It eases tension and anxiety, and may be used where this tension leads to headaches, restlessness and indigestion. Externally, the antiseptic action is utilized for the treatment of skin ulcers. A hops poultice can relieve the pain and inflammation of earache or toothache.

Isn't homeopathy a hoot?

No you have to rub the hops down there for a long time in a stroking motion ;) Wish my SWMBO would do that :D
