I'm working on a parts list for a propane, 2-3 burner setup with multiple pumps to do decoction all grain brewing with.

10 gallon capacity.

What would be your recs for such a system?

I'm thinking that the spare decoction kettle will help tremendously with the process, as I won't have to clean my BK before I can do the boil. It can also be smaller, and thus easier to manage. I'm thinking I could also rig up some kind of attachment to the top to stir the decoctions as well. Anyone know of a source to just buy something like that - an automated mash rake/chain setup?

Suggestions for a dedicated decoction kettle? I've heard of one person who used a copper bottom kettle, but don't really have any idea of what I'd be looking for other than a smaller kettle since I'm not dealing with the full volume of my mash in this one.

Do people use a HERM setup and do decoction/step mashes with them? If I do that, do I even need a propane burner for the MLT? I'd need a burner if I wanted to do step infusions precisely, right?

Thanks for any help.
