Why dry hop with Magnum? Its not known for its aroma. Is this what your local brewmaster recommended? What brewery is he at?

I also have 4oz of nugget I could sub, but I thought magnum would be more neutral
 
Actually, after reading up more, I think I will use the Citra and Nugget for the dry hop. I think the sticky resinousness would complement well.
 
you should have taken a picture of all those hops after the boil. It would have been interesting to see what 22oz of hops looks like after a boil.

Not saying your advise isn't prudent, but you've been negative on this brew since I posted the idea... Obviously, I've been open to ideas on this and have taken advice (the recipe has changed a lot since the first post).

I've got a half dozen great DIPA's and IIPA's under my belt that were my own recipe. I appreciate your expertise, but I DO understand ingredients and styles... This is in no way a traditional IIPA and I'd guess it utilizes more high aa hops by volume than nearly all recipes on hbt. I welcome insight, but if I don't use much of yours, don't get pissy.

Dude, you ask for help with a recipe then dismiss every suggestion made. I just went through the entire post and noticed times when something is suggested you come back with a defensive remark as if you are upset about someone questioning your recipe. If you don’t want someone to critique your recipe don’t post it on HBT.

You also come across as very pompous by saying things like “I’ve been prop tested and I’m a super taster” and “I collaborated on this recipe with the lab manager and brewer from Russian river”

I wish you well with you beer maybe we could exchange bottles of IIPA when it’s done and we could compare.

If you don't replace some of that malt with simple sugar your track record is gonna be blown.

I thought about that... You don't think 4 lbs of sugar will be enough for US-05 to pull it down? Where do you think it might stall?

If you're talking about the honey, I don't know. Maybe it's as good as sugar (that's the popular sentiment anyway). I've brewed with honey and, contrary to what others have said, it left a strong honey flavor in the beer. I don't know how well it attenuated, but I guess it went down pretty good.

My intuition is that you're making an IIPA that won't attenuate enough to be drinkable. I would remove that honey and replace with sugar. Regardless what you do, add the honey/sugar at the end of fermentation.

OTOH, if you look through Sam Calagione's Extreme Brewing, there are lots of recipes similar to yours.

Good luck. I'd say it's about time to get your burner fired up and make this thing. Try to remember to close the loop on this thread if you make it.

I'm making an extra IPA right now and I added a pound and a half of honey during the really active part of fermentation.

I brewed this sunday, reposted the recipe after- a few pages back. It has 4 lbs sugar, not honey
 
Just racked this to secondary and tossed in the 4oz citra and 4oz nugget. It finished at 1.020, which is perfect after tasting a sample. It is the most bruisingly bitter IPA I've tasted, but it's actually very well rounded.
