i think my yeast is dead.

my yeast for left all day in a black metal mailbox baking in the sun. it felt really hot when i brought it in.

tried pitching it into starter,
100 g DME, 1 liter water, 1 vial white labs belgian strong.

it all just fell out of suspension immediately and i've had no bubble, no sign of activity at all. it's been 48 hours, do i just leave it be for another day or two ?

Do you have it on a stir plate?

You may be better off buying your yeast locally, if you can. Stock up for your next 3 months of brews, if the distance is larger. You don't have your location listed, so we can only offer limited help and ideas.

When using mail order, make sure to order during the moderate climate months, and check the shipping route, so no extreme cold or hot areas are crossed. Some companies will add an ice pack or 2, but they won't help much more than provide a little buffer/heat (or cold) sink. The packs are thawed out before they hit the distribution center. A layover during a weekend in a hot truck (or a frozen one) can create havoc on your sensitive friends, so again, the day of the week you order can be critical.

Do you happen to have a beer fermenting, that you can harvest the yeast from when it finishes? Of course, if this yeast would be suitable for the next planned beer.
I order fresh yeast, if I need it during cool weather, and then harvest the yeast for the rest of the year, (or years).

Urgh i had my last order get stuck in transit over a long weekend, thursday to tuesday at ambient temps.....
Luckily its quite cool at this time of year here.
