I think it sat in Primary for too long

I brewed in the beginning of Feb., and was planning on bottling at the end of the third week of Feb.
Because of work, I JUST got a chance to do it. I think I might pour out the batch.

It doesn't smell right, but this is only second batch. It's a red Ale.

Does that ring of dried sediment look bad?

Looks likes the normal remnants of a krausen to me...

You can usually leave beer in primary for a couple of months with no problems.

You should never pitch out a batch unless tasting it proves there's an infection... Rack it to secondary then bottle...unless there's ropy things hanging down into the beer.

I've had a few brews spend months in primary. This was in glass, but you shouldn't have a problem.

Looks just like the pale ale I let sit in a bucket for 6 weeks. It's tasting great right now.

The only problem will be getting the dried off gunk off. If you let it soak in hot water and OxyClean over night it should come right off. Don't try to scrub it off or you'll scratch the bucket.

The only thing wrong with that is that you're not drinking it yet. It's just krausen remnants and is perfectly normal.

I wish I had taken a picture of my bucket lid when I racked my brown ale the other day...I had pitched it on the yeastcake from my amber ale AND I used a blowoff tube...I had over an inch of gunk coating the lid...What a beautiful mess!!!

Yep!!! Unless you really really need the bottles....otherwise you may be pitching the best beer you ever made had you not let it mellow...
