I have only been brewing less than a year and have made quite a bit of beer. Knock on wood so far everything has been drinkable with some being very good.
At this moment I have 2 batches ( 5 gallon batches) bottle conditioning...1 batch cold crashing..one batch to transfer to secondary today...one batch in primary along with some wines going. All I can think about is the next brew!!! I have already this morning went over about 5 recipes. I need a life

You do have a life, and it sounds very similar to mine.

Typical first couple years! The obsessing part has calmed. I think the only reason though is because I have the next 5 years worth of projects for brewing already planned and my brain can't take any more.

I need a life

Grasshopper, you misunderstand the meaning of life. You DO have a life... it is the non-brewers that I pity. The ones that will never taste the sweet nectar of the Gods. The ones that will never know the joy that comes from opening the first bottle of a new batch. The excitement of traveling down a new path in the blessed search for perfection. Those are the ones that don't have a life. Now repeat the sacred chant : RDWHAHB 10 times and pour a glass.

just curious, how much beer do you drink in a week? it must be a lot?!?!

you won't believe this.. in an average week I probably drink less than a 12 pack, closer to a 6 pack. I just love brewing it for some reason. Before I started brewing I would go months between beers. i LIKE beer but alcoholism is BAD in my family so I am very concious of that and obsess over not drinkin too much. I give away way more than I drink. had 0 last night.. 1 the night before...0 the night before that I think.

I started at the beginning of july and my third batch is 4 days into it's primary. I have another ingredient kit and fermenter on the way, lol.

By the way, I'm a lot like you because I would typically buy a 12 pack every other week or less often. This is just fun and way more convenient, since I walk to the store now (beer is heavy and you have to return the cans/bottles for the deposit too).

I've home brewed a lot personally... But I got my BIL hooked on it... we put together 2, 5 gal batches together every brewday... every other weekend... for the past 3 months... Thats on average 20 gallons a month... thats 240 gallons a year... And neither of us drink much... This... Is... A... Sickness......

(thank god I'm such a friendly and sociable guy... all sorts of friends and neighbours who don't mind thieving my brew and bringing me bottles!)

I have a friend who owns a bar. I get tons of bottles and boxes. I get to take my own beer to a bar if I want to and as long as I don't sell it I get to share it with friends there on a small scale( don't wanna pinch his sales at all) Plus I get to get on stage and play guitar and sing! The more home brew I pass around the better I seem to sound!

I brew every two weeks. My wife and I each have one pint every day with dinner, sometimes another pint later at night.

We can EASILY go through 2 kegs a month and never even put on the slightest buzz.
