I sure hope you guys are right (starsan)

I just used starsan for the first time to sanitize a carboy prior to racking some wine into it. I remembered reading on here to no worry about the bubbles in the carboy after I poured the starsan out of it....there were a lot of bubbles but I racked the wine into it anyway......went against my brain to not rinse it out.

I was the same way the first few times. Little voice in my head kept screaming "It's gonna taste soapy!!!! Look at all those soap bubbles!!! You IDIOT!!!" but it ended up just fine.

It is very unnerving the first time or two. But starsan is great stuff that breaks down into yeast food.

I saw a video by Northern Brewer a while back where they racked some beer into this carboy that was crazy-full of bubbles. I have never been able to get that many bubbles in a carboy, but it did do a good job of making me worry less about it.

OH YEAH how long can I store this stuff on average in a sealed bucket?

At a certain ph it will last indefinitely. I think it might be 3.2, but don't quote me on that!

If you use distilled water then it's good forever, otherwise get some PH test strips. With my softened well water it generally lasts around 4 wks.

I don't know my water ph. It is so hard however, that it hurts to take a shower!!!
